Project Story
RenuKrete
Granite Slate Edition Concrete Pool Deck Upgrade
PROJECT AT A GLANCE
Color Theme: Granite Slate
Location: Massachusetts
Main Issues: Worn Surface & Cracking
Surface: Concrete Pool Deck
A worn-out concrete pool deck in Massachusetts hand-sculpted into a natural slate-inspired surface; no demolition required.
What This Pool Deck Looked Like Before
These photos show the condition of the pool deck prior to the start of work. The exposed aggregate surface had deteriorated over time, with visible expansion joints across the slab, cracking near the handrail base, and an overall dull, worn appearance. The existing concrete served as the foundation for RenuKrete’s hand-sculpted resurfacing process.

The Finished Pool Deck: After RenuKrete
The transformation is clear. The original dull, weathered concrete slab has been reworked into a
hand-sculpted Granite Slate finish, bringing in the texture, depth, and visual interest of natural flagstone.

Project Overview
The original pool deck at this property in Massachusetts had been part of the backyard for around 20 years, wrapping around a kidney-shaped pool near the house. The concrete surface had a worn exposed aggregate finish with visible expansion joints running across the slab. Cracking had developed around the handrail base where the joint lines intersected, and open anchor holes were visible along the expansion joints near the pool edge. The overall surface had lost its original appearance and looked dated next to the rest of the backyard.
Rather than demolish the existing concrete, the homeowners chose RenuKrete to resurface the deck. The updated surface gave the pool area a completely refreshed look while preserving the original slab underneath.
What Makes Granite Slate Edition Stand Out
• Hand-sculpted flagstone pattern with natural variation in size and shape
• Modern look that enhances the space without feeling overbearing
• Pairs well with white, light blue, and gray homes
• Balanced, medium-contrast finish for a clean, refined appearance
• Sealed surface engineered to resist UV, pool chemicals, and freeze-thaw cycles
Wondering What Your Pool Deck Could Look Like?
Every project starts with a free evaluation. Upload photos of your pool deck and a RenuKrete representative will tell you if your surface is a good candidate, and what the transformation could look like.
What RenuKrete Homeowners Have to Say
So professional and very efficient. Our expectations were exceeded and are very happy with the outcome.
Nicolette and Mike
The experience was so pleasant from start to finish. The support gives quick responses and has answers to all your questions. The 2 men called to let me know they were on the way and were so appreciative when I provided water on a hot day. They put in a long hot day to make sure the job was done to perfection. My deck looks brand new like when they first installed it.
Roque and Cathe
The workers did a great job! The process made my pool deck look like a 5 star resort! Gorgeous!
