What This Pool Deck Looked Like Before
The pool itself was impressive, but the concrete deck surrounding it told a different story. The surface was plain, flat, and visibly worn. Cracks ran through the expansion joints across the entire slab. Moisture stains had settled into uneven patches across the concrete, and where the deck met a section of existing stone paver overlay, the transition had started to crack and separate. It was a big, well-built pool area held back by the one surface that everyone walks on.

The Finished Pool Deck: After RenuKrete
Now the deck matches the pool it surrounds. RenuKrete's Granite Slate Neptune finish covers the entire surface in a hand-sculpted flagstone pattern with multiple tones; lighter and darker stones alternating across the field to create depth and movement that a single-color finish can't achieve. The pattern wraps cleanly around the spa and steps, follows the curves of the freeform pool, and extends out to a seating area near the fence. What used to be the weakest part of the backyard is now the first thing you notice.

Project Overview
This New Jersey property features a well-built pool area centered around a freeform pool with a built-in spa, natural stone waterfall, and mosaic tile detailing, all set within a large pool deck bordered by mature trees and iron fencing. While the pool and surrounding features had been thoughtfully updated over time, the original concrete deck remained unchanged. Its broom-finished surface had begun to show wear, with cracking along expansion joints. Near the spa, a small section of stone paver overlay had started to separate and break down, leaving the overall surface looking flat and inconsistent compared to the rest of the space.
RenuKrete resurfaced the entire deck using the Granite Slate Neptune finish, introducing a multi-toned flagstone pattern that adds depth and variation across the large surface area. The hand-sculpted design follows the pool’s curves, spa steps, and transitions, bringing the deck in line with the surrounding stone and landscaping. The transformation was completed directly over the existing concrete, with no demolition or rebuild required.
