Behind the Projects: Restoring a
Decades-Old Pool Deck
This Massachusetts apartment community was working with a pool deck that had been in service for over half a century. Cracking, patchwork repairs, and surface wear had taken their toll. In just over a week, the entire space was repaired, resurfaced, and brought back to life.
A Pool Deck That Was at the End of Its Lifecycle
This pool deck belongs to a large apartment community in Massachusetts, and before we started, it was clearly showing its age. At roughly fifty to sixty years old, the concrete had developed extensive cracking, rough textures, and visible mold buildup throughout the surface. Over the years, pipe work and repairs had been completed at different times, leaving behind patchwork sections that never quite matched the original slab.

The Real Challenge
One of the biggest challenges with this project was tying all of those different surfaces together visually. Between the older concrete, the various repair areas, the precast coping, and the safety edge, the deck had lost any sense of continuity. Our goal was to unify everything into a single, cohesive surface without removing or replacing the existing concrete.

Restoration and Finish
We spent about a week restoring this deck, carefully repairing and resurfacing the concrete to create a smooth, consistent foundation. Once the surface was properly prepared, we finished the deck in our Granite Boulder color theme, chosen specifically to complement the architecture of the property.
A Completely Renewed Space
The result is a pool deck that feels cleaner, safer, and far more inviting. What was once a tired, uneven surface is now a finished space that looks intentional and well maintained. Just look at it now.
